Organization Requires that the structure of the piece be suited to its genre, topic, and purpose. Word Choice Requires the writer to make purposeful decisions when choosing words. Sentence Fluency Sentences flow naturally in the piece, with smooth rhythm and cadence. Voice Refers to the style of the writer. The piece should be enthusiastic with a personal touch while still fitting the purpose, audience, and genre. Conventions Involves grammar, spelling, and mechanics.
